Opt-in Companion capture

In the private pilot, automatic capture qualifies only when the main post is at least 50% visible for five continuous seconds in the active, non-incognito tab. A separate explicit Grab saves just the exact current main post, with comments off by default. Neither path creates tabs, turns pages, or calls AI.

02 / Score

Intent scores you can take apart

After a usable detail is saved, you can explicitly ask your selected BYOK model for an itemized intent score. Saving never triggers this call.

Drafts that respect the room

A recommended post can then get a separate human-triggered draft. Banned phrases are rejected; Go reply copies the draft and opens the source, but never fills or submits the form.

Never auto-submits

“Go reply” copies the draft and opens the source thread. It does not fill or submit Reddit's form. The last click is always yours.

No background patrol in the pilot

The Companion pilot has no tabs, alarms, or background scheduler. Active patrol exists only in a separately compiled developer lab artifact.

No silent AI work

Saving a post never scores or drafts it. Model discovery uses synthetic JSON; real content is sent only after an explicit AI action.

Never phones home

No product-data server, telemetry, or “anonymous usage stats”. Clear deletes local extension data and its saved Vault handle; already exported files remain yours.

Where does your data go? All of it, listed.

Stays on your machine

  • Saved material: qualifying posts, explicitly included visible comments, drafts, scores, logs → browser OPFS
  • Config & keys: chrome.storage.local on this computer; keys are plaintext and never refilled into the page
  • Archives: date-organized Markdown in your chosen folder or ZIP; exported files are outside the extension
  • Adoption counters: drafts delivered / replies / ignores — local stats that only leave when you export them yourself

  • Review: no Reddit requests. Private Companion reads only the already-loaded current post after opt-in; this is subject to Reddit's terms and may carry account risk

“Will it get me banned?” “Who do you sell my data to?”

Isn't this just a scraper plus an AI call?
The private pilot combines an opt-in reading capture with separate AI-assisted scoring and drafting. The useful product work is state integrity, t3 deduplication, local archives, safe export, and explicit control over every model/send action. None of that grants permission from Reddit.
Will this get my Reddit account banned?
No tool can guarantee account safety. The private Companion pilot does not create tabs or patrol in the background, but saving page content can still be restricted by platform terms. Factotum is not affiliated with or authorized by Reddit; no public Reddit-enabled build is distributed today.
Do you upload or sell my data?
Factotum has no product-data backend. Local workspace material lives in your browser; exported Vault/ZIP files stay where you put them. Only explicit AI actions send relevant content to your chosen endpoint. The static website host receives ordinary request metadata; we do not run product analytics or sell user data.
Why do I need my own AI key (BYOK)?
There is no Factotum relay or server holding your key. Settings scan the provider's model directory and run a content-free probe; only a successful, user-confirmed connection is saved. Without a verified key, local saving and Markdown export still work, but AI scoring and drafting do not.
How is this different from just browsing Reddit, or from Hootsuite-style tools?
Scrolling forgets what you saw. Factotum turns posts you deliberately read into a local, date-organized workspace, then lets you choose which ones deserve a score or a draft. Publishing tools help you send; Factotum helps you remember, decide, and prepare — and deliberately refuses to publish.
Does it support HN, X, or LinkedIn?
The private research profile currently targets Reddit only. The public review build reads no platform. Multi-platform support is not promised.
What happens to my data when the trial ends?
AI actions pause; the local workspace stays readable and exportable. Clear or uninstall removes extension-local data, but files already written to Obsidian or downloaded as ZIP remain.
Can I pay or subscribe today?
No. The planned Founding Pilot is a one-time $29 purchase for 30 days, with no automatic renewal, but live checkout is disabled while Paddle reviews the seller, product, and domain. This website does not collect payment details.
